Supreme Court Declines To Hear Border Wall Challenge

The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to hear a case challenging the construction of a border wall along the Mexican border.

Several environmental groups had sued over the construction, claiming the Department of Homeland Security didn't have the legal right to fast-track construction by waiving environmental requirements.

The Center for Biological Diversity was one of many environmental groups that filed the case in January. In a statement on Monday, Center for Biological Diversity attorney Jean Su said, “we’re disappointed that the Supreme Court won’t consider the Trump administration’s flagrant abuse of the law to fast-track border wall construction."

The groups say the border wall will interfere with animal migration patterns and threatens local plant species, including cacti.

Do you think a border wall poses an environmental threat? Is it important to preventing illegal immigration?
