Mario Lopez and the gang are returning to Bayside High! Lopez joined Ryan Seacrest on-air on Wednesday, November 25, and teased what’s in store with the Saved By the Bell reboot. The TV & radio personality also took a trip down memory lane with Seacrest. The duo used to live in the same apartment complex in Los Angeles when they first moved to Hollywood.

“Thank god it was pre-social media,” Mario joked while the duo reminisced on their nights out. “Instead of TMZ outside the clubs it was just the guy selling roses,” Seacrest hilariously added.

Fast-forward to 2020 and while much has changed, Lopez shared Saved By the Bell is bringing back all the nostalgia we’ve been craving.

“It’s been 30 years since the [premiere] … and obviously a lot of these reboots have been popular … and [Emmy-winning showrunner] Tracey Wigfield was apparently like a big fan growing up and she came up with this clever concept of blending nostalgia and an updated 2020 version and taking up all these socially relevant topics and it was just a really smart take,” Lopez added, sharing he’s reprising his role as Slater, but this time he’s the athletic director.

“I love playing this character that’s stuck in his era,” he shared. “… The only reason I couldn’t rock the mullet was because I still have to do my other shows.”

Listen back to find out what’s in store with the reboot and to find out who else will be returning to Bayside High!
