Beyoncé Opens Up About Making Powerful New Album 'Black Is King'

Beyoncé’s groundbreaking and highly anticipated visual album Black Is King has finally arrived.

It was originally only supposed to serve merely as a companion piece to the live action adaptation of The Lion King she starred in last year but it slowly morphed into something far more meaningful for her and audiences worldwide.

Black Is King is a feature length project in its own right, one she’s worked on tirelessly for the past year in nearly every creative capacity which is a celebration of black excellence and history.

"There were moments where I felt overwhelmed like many others on my creative team but it was important to create a film that instills pride and knowledge," Beyoncé shared in an emotional post. "I only hope that from watching you leave feeling inspired to continue building a legacy that impacts the world in an immeasurable way. This experience has been an affirmation of a grander purpose.I pray that everyone sees the beauty and resilience of our people."
