Jose Arreola said he and his wife stopped off at a convenience store to get some mints before going to the club. Jose went to an ATM and pulled out some cash before entering the store on Beach Boulevard in Buena Park, California. He placed the mints on the counter and handed the clerk a $20 bill to pay for them. A voice from the man standing behind Jose identified himself as a police officer and pulled a gun from his pocket and told Mr. Arreola to set the mints down. Jose told the officer that he paid for the mints but he wouldn’t believe him until the clerk acknowledged that the mints had been paid for.
After the officer realized the mistake, he apologized but it may have been too late.
