Vintage VHS Copies Of Classic Horror Films Are Going Up For Auction

Calling VHS tapes vintage still hurts a little 😂 Even though VHS tapes are a thing of the past there are still some people who collect and keep VHS tapes alive.

If you are a horror fan, you have a chance to bid on some amazing and classic horror and thriller films during Heritage Auction's VHS Horror Showcase auction. The auction will feature over 100 classic VHS tapes from monster, slasher, demon and zombie movies and get this...each of them are "sealed, slabbed and graded." Some of the films up for auction are:

  • early copy of Sam Raimi's "The Evil Dead"
  • Steven Spielberg's "Jaws"
  • 1 of 3 known Betamax copies of John Carpenter's original "Halloween"
  • two of the earliest "Halloween" releases ever - Beta edition from 1978 and a rare 1981 VHS, which features the misspelling of Michael Myer's name on the back
  • extreme rare copies of "A Nightmare on Elm Street," "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes," "Carrie," "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre," and John Carpenter's thriller "The Thing."

What's crazy is that these tapes are still sealed and in their original condition and Heritage Auction describes the auction as "a chance to own some truly rare pieces that honestly have no right being in their current condition."

“They were meant to be opened and watched repeatedly, especially those early tapes, which were rented out of strip-mall mom-and-pop shops and cost upwards of $100 to own,” Heritage writes of the collection. “None of these were meant to last safe and watermark-sealed well into the 21st century.”
