Oof. This isn't going to be good at all to help police/public relations. A couple days ago, police approached a man, 35-year-old Magdiel Sanchez, carrying a length of pipe. He was asked multiple times by police to drop the pipe, but he didn't meet police demands.
It was apparently at this point that it's reported multiple neighbors were screaming to the officers that Magdiel couldn't hear the commands of the officers -- because he's deaf. Whether or not officers heard the neighbors, they opened fire and Magdiel was killed on the scene.
Staying as neutral as I can on this -- it's heartbreaking again that an (apparently) innocent man lost his life. It also has to be said that the job of a police officer must be extremely stressful and you'd like to think/hope that they're not starting off each day hoping that they'll be in a situation to shoot someone.
Regardless, thoughts and prayers go out to Magdiel's family -- what a tragedy. More info is below.
