Love hurts, well not these birds but for us. The white bellbird, a tiny Amazonian bird has a mating call that is so loud that the sound could easily cause hearing damage in humans. Scientists recorded the bellbird's mating call and think that the bird's amazing ability to control it's overflow can result in a mating call at easily 113 decibels. Imagine someone trying to get your attention and their call sounding like a small plane taking off less than 200 feet from you. Or imagine the loudest rock concert you've been to; that's the kind of volume this bird produces. Pretty impressive since it's about the size of a dove. Do loud people get and maintain your attention? What's the loudest, most annoying "pickup line" you've heard from someone?
