Can of Dry Shampoo Explodes in Car, Shatters Sunroof

After discovering the sun roof on one of their cars had been smashed out, a St. Louis family thought the vehicle had been either vandalized or struck by "something that fell from the sky." However, the destruction proved to be an inside job -- perpetrated by a can of dry shampoo. Christine Debrecht says when her husband discovered the shattered sunroof on their daughter's car, "it looked like a tornado had hit the inside." But after noticing white residue all over the interior, they began to suspect the culprit's identity -- and then found the empty dry shampoo can about 50 feet from the vehicle. The can's bottom appeared to have been blown out, Debrecht says. Debrecht, who considers her 19-year-old daughter lucky to have not been driving when the explosion occurred, says she wants to warns others of the potential dangers of keeping the aerosol product in their vehicles.
