Billy Baldwin Comments On Hilaria Baldwin’s ‘Awkward & Embarrassing’ Drama

Alec Baldwin's wife, Hilaria Baldwin, made headlines in the final days of 2020 after she was accused of executing a "decade long grift where she impersonates a Spanish person." The former yoga instructor denied the claims that she intentionally mislead the media and her followers into believing she was born and raise in Spain. Following the viral Twitter thread, Hilaria admitted her real name is Hillary and she was born in Boston, Massachusetts.

“The things I have shared about myself are very clear,” Hilaria told the New York Times of the scandal. “I was born in Boston. I spent time in Boston and in Spain. My family now lives in Spain. I moved to New York when I was 19 years old and I have lived here ever since. For me, I feel like I have spent 10 years sharing that story over and over again. And now it seems like it’s not enough.”

While Hilaria's husband took to Instagram to defend his wife, her brother-in-law, Billy Baldwin, spoke to Page Six about the situation. “This is probably an awkward and embarrassing time for Alec and Hilaria,” the actor said. “I’ve been texting Alec the whole time to make sure he’s OK and if he needs anything.”

Billy's wife, Chynna Phillips, also chimed in on their in-law's scandal. “My family has been through this before,” Chynna, who grew up with famous parents Michelle and John Phillips of the Mammas and the Papas, shared. “I was born in a fishbowl, and this kind of stuff has been happening around me since 1968.”

Chynna also addressed Hilaria's situation in a video posted to her YouTube channel. “I feel terrible. Who’s going to throw the first stone at my sweet sister-in-law? She’s a good woman and none of us are perfect. We all have issues," Chynna told her viewers.

Hilaria has also received support from her step-daughter, Ireland Baldwin, as well, in recent days.
