Kim Kardashian Says She Had To 'Educate' Kanye After His Meeting With Trump

Kim Kardashian may have supported her husband, Kanye West, publicly (following his controversial visit to the White House), but behind closed doors, she was having serious talks with him about his beliefs.

During a sit-down interview with CNN commentator Van Jones for Variety and Rolling Stone's Criminal Justice Reform Summit, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star opened up about Kanye's political beliefs and the fallout after his meeting with Donald Trump

"I feel like he’s very misunderstood and the worst communicator," she told Van. "But, when we talk about it, we have very similar politics. He’s very not political, actually, he just happens to like Donald Trump’s personality but doesn’t know about the politics. So, I’ve educated him recently." Kim continued: "I think it gets really misconstrued. He will always say he was friendly with him before, and he’s the same person and friendly with him now. I could also co-exist with someone and still have different political views. My mom and my step-dad did that. It’s fine to be different and have your own view."

"After he went to the White House or has been outspoken, I could have easily been on social media and corrected him," she admitted. "But I believe people have their own journeys. I know his heart, so I know that one day what he’s been trying to say will come out. It’s taken a little long so I’m jumping in and helping out, but I know his heart so I never really stress too much."

Shortly after Kanye met with Trump at the White House, for what many have deemed one of the strangest White House meetings in history, the "Love It" announced that he was stepping back from politics after realizing he had been used for political gain. "My eyes are now wide open and now realize I’ve been used to spread messages I don’t believe in," he wrote. "I am distancing myself from politics and completely focusing on being creative !!!"

While Ye made no mention of Donald Trump, he did call out African American conservative Candace Owen, who spearheaded the "Blexit" campaign (which urges black Americans to leave the Democratic party), and previously claimed that Kanye helped create the Blexit logo. "I introduced Candace to the person who made the logo and they didn’t want their name on it so she used mine," Ye explained. "I never wanted any association with Blexit. I have nothing to do with it." (To note, Candace issued a clarifying statement hours before Kanye's tweet sesh, saying her and Kanye have different political views and he did not design the Blexit t-shirts.)

Kanye then went on thank those who have supported his "ACTUAL beliefs" and "vision for a better world."
