Take this how you want -- honestly, I think it would've been a brilliant move. Baker Mayfield, the stand-out QB for the Oklahoma Sooners, was drafted #1 overall by the Cleveland Browns in this year's NFL Draft, but if he wasn't, there's a good chance he would've become a Patriot.
Rumor has it that if he was still available, the Patriots were going to trade up to receive the #2 overall pick, and draft Mayfield. Not a bad move to give TB12 a SOLID backup and have someone on the roster that would probably be the best pick to fill Brady's shoes when the sad, dark day that he announces his retirement comes.
Do you think there's dramz in the organization because of this, or was this just a strategic move that never happened?
